The Knights of Columbus are the largest distributors of charity in the world. Anyone in need can call upon the Knights for assistance.

The Knights at St. Mary’s serve the community of Franklin. Meetings are held twice monthly in the Sacred Heart Hall.

Robert Simmler PGK, Sacred Heart Council 1847 Knights of Columbus College Scholarship 2025

Congratulations to Elle Bonacci was awarded $3000 and Eiley Cinelli $1000. Elle and Eiley are graduates of Franklin High School. Both are accomplished students and are active members of the St Mary’s Parish Community. Their achievements were especially noteworthy amongst the many wonderful talented candidates that applied for the 2025 scholarship award. 

We wish Elle the best of luck as she goes onto the University of Pittsburgh in the fall, and Eiley as she attends the University of Colorado Boulderin the fall. The Robert Simmler PGK Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council 1847Scholarship is named in honor of Mr. Robert Simmler, he was a very active and accomplished member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Council and the Franklin Community.

Knights of Columbus 2026 Scholarship

The Knights of Columbus is accepting applicants for its 2026 college scholarship award program - The Robert Simmler PGK, Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council#1847 Scholarship. Applicants must be a registered member of St Mary’s Parish, Franklin and graduating from High School in the spring 2026 and progressing to their first year of study at a 2 or 4 year college/university. We are awarding 2 scholarships this year a $3000 and $1500.

The application form is available from the banner on the parish website or on the Knights of Columbus website https://www.kofc1847.org/. Please fill in ALL information accurately and clearly, and submit the completed application by March 27, 2026 to: The Robert Simmler PGK Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Council 1847 Scholarship Committee, St. Mary’s Parish c/o Michael Swan 38 Madison Ave, Franklin MA 02038

The award will be given to the recipients upon completion of their 1st semester of studies and upon proof of enrollment for the 2nd semester.

Basketball Free Throw Massachusetts State Champions

1st Place MA State Champion for 13 Year Old Boys - Chris B. Naydenov

2nd Place MA State Champion for 10 Year Old Boys - Daylan Chu

3rd Place MA State Champion for 11 year Old Boys - Liam Sebastian Pierre-Canal

Special Congratulations to these Boys Champions. They were terrific...Franklin Council, South District, South Regional Champs and now the ultimate: KOC MA State FT BB Champions!  The Good News is that they will be back next year to compete. Joey Paglia , who won the Council, South District and South Regional Championships, could not attend the "States" due to 2 AAU practices commitment, but Congrats to Joey!!! 

St. Mary's Franklin Community and Neighboring Towns, please consider having your 9 -14 Year Old Boys and Girls, grandchildren and friends join us next year in the 2027 Franklin Council Free Throw Basketball contest....It's a lot fun and exciting to watch our contestants shoot and compete!
