Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation 2020

This year, St. Mary’s will hold three separate ceremonies for the Sacrament of Confirmation: one on Friday, September 11 at 6:00pm, and two on Saturday, September 12 at 10:00am and again at 12:00pm, based on the last name of the Confirmation candidate. The schedule is as follows:

Requests for Change in Scheduled Confirmation

Parents may no longer request to make a change to their candidate’s scheduled Confirmation date as the deadline has to do so has passed. Parents who wish to defer their candidate’s Confirmation until 2021 should email their request to confirmation.director@stmarysfranklin.org.


Confirmation Practice / Rehearsal

mandatory practice is scheduled for Confirmation candidates and their parents. Candidates must attend the correct practice for their scheduled Confirmation date and time. The practice will provide candidates with an understanding of what will be required of them during the ceremony, as well as how the Sacrament will be conferred.

Due to the size and logistics of each Sacrament of Confirmation ceremony, Candidates must attend the correct practice session for their scheduled Confirmation date and time.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

Every Confirmation Candidate should receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before they make their Confirmation. Make this incredible gift of reconciliation and penance a special part of cleansing your heart and soul as you prepare for receiving the Holy Spirit. For more information, please see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, ¶1310.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered at St. Mary’s on Saturdays from 8:00-8:30 am in the lower-church chapel.

Sacrament of Confirmation Mass Details

Arrival Instructions: Candidates and their parents are to arrive during their assigned slots in order to assist with COVID safe-distancing requirements. Punctuality is required of both the candidates and their parents.

Candidates must arrive wearing their Confirmation robe and a mask. Parents, as well as candidates, must wear masks at all times.

Personal Presentation: All candidates and parents shall wear proper attire and footwear in reverence of the Sacrament. No water, food, or gum is to be brought. Phones must be powered off upon arrival and throughout the ceremony.

Photography: Out of respect for the dignity and holiness of this ceremony, no photography of any kind will be allowed in the church. Please respect the parish’s desire to celebrate this Sacrament without any distraction and with everyone participating fully in prayer. Please advise relatives and friends that no pictures or video are allowed during the ceremony.


Confirmation Robes

Look for an email from the Confirmation Director requesting your Confirmation Candidate’s robe size and date/time for pickup.
